International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA)

        What is an IPA? It is an alphabet developed long in the 19th Century to actually represent the pronunciation of languages. The IPA concept was first broached by Otto Jespersen in a letter of Paul Passy. The purpose if IPA is to standardize the representation of spoken language. 

       In this video I will show you how to rewrite IPA symbols into words. I will also show you how it is pronounced properly.





    Once again the purpose of an IPA is to help us represent the spoken language. It also teach us how to pronounce words properly by translating word into an IPA.
